“The circus is back in town again, the circus is back in town again!” These are the Words most likely to be uttered from the tongues of little children and some adults as they eagerly await a hidden treat for the eyes. This is because every now and then a circus passes through the country of Belize to dazzle and amaze us with their high flying acrobatics and array of exotic animal. Yes, we all love it because it’s good to get a little entertainment once in a while, but at what cost….?
Hey don’t get me wrong on one side we have hard working people trying to make a living and what gives anyone the right to judge. They are professionals who know almost everything about these animals .I’m assuming they would have to get some kind of document stating that. However on the other hand I see animals locked up in cages just to amuse others. I don’t think there was an animal sign up in the wild asking for volunteers in the circus. These animals are tamed, which I’m thinking is done trough your basic punishment and reward system. You do badly I’ll hit you, you do well I give you a treat. I remember one circus in particular that gave me a disturbing feeling. First of all they were buying dogs from people to feed the lions just like that. Well we do have growing problems with stray animals, but I also wonder how many people’s pets got stolen to feed these animals. I wonder who gave them authorization to do that in the first place or was it all about the money… These are just speculations on my part; correct me if I’m wrong. Secondly Most of the animals looked pale as though they where sick, which could be their actual color in real life as opposed to that on the television right? I could also see their ribs and hip bone pertruding like they where starving.
I’m not trying to start an animal movement in Belize for starving animals when there are starving people. That would be ridiculous to say that animals should be compared to people. Like I said in the beginning they are hard working people who have mouths to feed .Knowing that I’m assuming they try to take excellent care of their animals and even develop bonds with them like one would with a pet. Hey in the end who really cares .We don’t eat chicken everyday thinking about the process it takes to get to the end product, LOL
